The Pyrmont Skirt is an easy to sew midi length skirt. It features relaxed inverted box pleats on the front with a flat front waistband and a comfortable elastic back. We have added some shaping to the back waist to account for larger bodies so that the hem falls beautifully and the generous side seam pockets are securely anchored. A deep hem adds balance to the skirt which hits below the knee. Sew it up in a linen for a casual look, tencel for a drapey but elevated silhouette, or a lightweight twill for a modern take on the uniform trend.

Finished Garment Measurements:

See chart in images.

Selecting your size
Compare your waist measurement to the size chart above to select your base size. If your waist is two or more sizes smaller than your hip, you may want to select a size that falls in between them. The back of the skirt is elasticized and can be adjusted to fit your waist within about one size of your hip.

Before cutting
To save paper and printing costs, the Front and Back pieces are not the full length of the skirt. To achieve the finished length below, lengthen the pieces so they measure 32” (81.5cm) long at the side seams. Additionally, please ensure you only print the size/pages you need as we have not nested/stacked the Front pieces so that the pleating scheme is as clear as possible.

Alterations in length can be easily made by shortening or lengthening at the hem.

It is always recommended to sew a toile/muslin before cutting in to your 'good' fabric.

We often get asked what height our patterns are drafted for

We don’t note this on our patterns because the body’s proportions can make an overall height very misleading.
For example, you might technically be the “same height” as the draft, but you might have proportionally longer legs. In that case, a pants pattern may be very short for you. We do not subscribe to the notion of “normal bodies” and that is why we provide finished garment measurements instead of drafting height.
For all patterns (not just ours!), we always recommend comparing the finished measurements (and measurements taken from the pattern itself) to your body. Use the shorten/lengthen lines to adjust as necessary.

Suggested Fabric:

This pattern is designed for use with a wide variety of light-medium weight woven (non-stretch) fabrics. We suggest light-medium weight linen, cotton lawn, cotton poplin/shirting, cotton sateen, lightweight cotton drill, silk noil, tencel twill, cupro, medium weight viscose/viscose blends, or rayon/rayon blends.

As with most garment sewing, we do not recommend the use of quilting cotton

To avoid seams, the skirt is cut on the crossgrain. Please take this into account if you are using a directional print

The Pyrmont Skirt pairs perfectly with many of our top patterns- wear them out, tuck them in, or do the french half tuck into the flat-front waistband of the Pyrmont. We love the Atrax Top and the Pyrmont Skirt together, but our relaxed Hyde T-Shirt and more fitted Tarlee T-Shirt also pair excellently. A cropped Waikerie Shirt (View A) finishes at the perfect height for the Pyrmont waistband, but it also looks great layered under longer Waikerie Shirts, Waikerie Dresses, and even Huon Dresses. We layer our Pyrmont Skirts over Dulcie Boxer Briefs, for chub-rub free skirt wearing.
