The Droma Skirt is a midi length skirt with an A-line shape which features a deep hem facing, elastic waist, inseam pockets, and back darts. The pattern is specifically designed for larger bodies and is a versatile addition to your pattern (and actual!) wardrobe. It’s a perfect skill builder project as well as being the skirt you’ll want to wear again and again. Learn a neat method for sewing inseam pockets that won’t flap around as well as lowstakes versions of darts and hem facings. The skirt can be sewn in a variety of fabrics from a cozy wool suiting to a flowy tencel so you can wear it all year round.
Sizes Available:

Selecting your size
Compare your waist and hip measurements to the size chart above to select your base size. If your waist is two or more sizes smaller than your hip, you may want to select a size that falls in between them. Check the finished measurements below to ensure that the finished waist (stretched) is bigger than your hips to ensure you can get the skirt on!
Alterations in length can be easily made by shortening or lengthening at the hem.
It is always recommended to sew a toile/muslin before cutting in to your 'good' fabric.
We often get asked what height our patterns are drafted for
We don’t note this on our patterns because the body’s proportions can make an overall height very misleading.
For example, you might technically be the “same height” as the draft, but you might have proportionally longer legs. In that case, a pants pattern may be very short for you. We do not subscribe to the notion of “normal bodies” and that is why we provide finished garment measurements instead of drafting height.
For all patterns (not just ours!), we always recommend comparing the finished measurements (and measurements taken from the pattern itself) to your body. Use the shorten/lengthen lines to adjust as necessary.
Suggested Fabric:
This pattern is designed for use with a wide variety of light-medium weight woven (non-stretch) fabrics. We suggest light-medium weight linen, cotton lawn, cotton poplin/shirting, cotton sateen, lightweight cotton drill, silk noil, tencel twill, light-medium weight wool suitings, cupro, medium weight viscose/viscose blends, or rayon/rayon blends.
The skirt can be cut on the crossgrain or straight grain for smaller sizes and is cut on the crossgrain for larger sizes and for narrower fabric in all sizes. Please take this into account if you are using a directional print or texture.
As with most garment sewing, we do not recommend the use of quilting cotton.
Fabric Yardage:
Sizes A-F
• 3m/3.3yds (150cm/60” wide) - crossgrain
• 2.75m/3yds (150cm/60” wide) - straightgrain
• 3.7m/4.1yds (115cm/45” wide) - crossgrain
Sizes G-M
• 3.3m/3.6yds (150cm/60” wide) - crossgrain
• 4.9m/5.4yds (115cm/45” wide) - crossgrain
Notions:
• 2 small strips (1/2” x 8”, 1.3cm x 20cm) of medium-weight fusible interfacing
• 1.5” (38mm) ribbed non roll elastic to fit waist measurement
• Matching all purpose thread
Be sure to buy ribbed, non roll elastic. Knitted elastic is not a good choice in general for plus sizes because it lacks the recovery to hold the fabric in place and will just continue to stretch out with the weight of the fabric

The Droma Skirt pairs perfectly with many of our top patterns- wear them out, tuck them in, or do the french half tuck. We love the Atrax Top with all our bottoms, but our oversized Galen T-Shirt makes for a particularly cool pair with the Droma. The cropped Waikerie 1 Shirt and our Torrens Box Top finish at the perfect height for the Droma waistband, but it looks extra sweet with our gathered Huon Shirt or our tie or button-front peplum, the Newry Top. We layer our Skirts over Dulcie Boxer Briefs, for chub-rub free skirt wearing.
