The Torrens Box Top [pronounced like Tor-rens] is an easy-to-wear everyday staple with clean, architectural lines. It is designed to be very loose fitting with a boxy silhouette and hits at the hip. It features a neck facing, a unique sleeve band application technique, or a generously proportioned long sleeve. Choose the regular long sleeve for a thinner fabric or the wide long sleeve for a layering piece.

We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land around the river Karrawirra Parri, the Kaurna people, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Cup sizes
Where cup sizes have not been stated it's because the pattern is dart-free and has been designed to be 'cup-size flexible'. If you're unsure about what size to use, you can always email your measurements to help@munaandbroad.com for specific sizing advice.

Finished Garment Measurements:

See chart in images.

This garment is designed to have at least 12 inches of design ease. The finished garment measurements may seem large, but the boxy silhouette of the top is achieved using this ease.

We recommend selecting your size based on your bust and hip measurement.

Fit will be compromised by intentionally sizing down.

Alterations in length can be easily made by shortening or lengthening at the hem.

It is always recommended to sew a toile/muslin before cutting in to your 'good' fabric.

Suggested Fabric:

This pattern is designed for use with a variety of woven fabrics.

To achieve a draped silhouette, we suggest lightweight flowy fabrics such as challis, lawn, lightweight linen, rayon, crepe, or silk.

If you prefer to accentuate the Torrens’ boxiness, use a medium weight fabric such as a medium weight linen, double gauze, or handwoven cotton such as an ikat.

As with most garment sewing, we do not recommend the use of quilting cottons.

For a statement piece, try making this top up in a soft wool coating fabric with draping properties such as a soft melton!

Fabric Yardage:

Size A-F

Short Sleeve
• 1.9m/2yards (115cm/45” wide)
• 1.5m/1.7 yards (150cm/60” wide)

If you’re using a patterned fabric with a repeat that you’d like to match, you may need more fabric than what is suggested above.

Ensure your fabric is washed and pre-shrunk before cutting.

Notions:

• 10” (25cm) lightweight, fusible interfacing (115cm/ 45”wide)

The Torrens looks great with our wide-leg Glebe Pants, our drapey Willandra Pants and our tapered, side-pocketed Sculthorpe Pants.  Wear it out, tuck it in, or do the french half tuck- your fabric choice will set the mood. Layer a Mallee Jacket over the top to keep away the chill, or try layering the Waikerie Dress as a duster over the top.
