From fancy to relaxed
We wanted to make a beginner friendly dress with great details but which could easily be dressed up or down, depending on the fabric choice (and your styling).
The Melba Dress is perfect for lazy summer days. It’s equally at home by the pool or at a restaurant with its generous, relaxed proportions and elegant finishes.

Our 3 versions of the Melba Dress pictured here are all linen from A+R Fabrics! Leila's Navy Check is 160gsm and yarn dyed, and her purple Melba is from 160gsm Mulberry (currently sold out). My pink dress is 200gsm Hot Pink linen and it's buttery soft.
This pattern is designed for a variety of light to medium-weight woven (non-stretch) fabrics.
We love linen but cotton lawn, cotton poplin/shirting would make for a great summery dress to keep the sun off. A Melba in tencel, cupro, viscose/viscose blends, or rayon/rayon blends would be versatile and would have great drape!
For the fanciest of Melba silks like silk noil, silk satin, sandwashed silk and more would make an elevated dress that was delightfully slinky.
