Comparing our Tees
- The Tarlee T-Shirt (left) is our fitted-but-not-tight top that is great for layering or wearing alone.
- The Hyde T-Shirt (centre) is our loose-fitting knit top with a silhouette that's boxy and a dropped shoulder.
- The Galen T-Shirt (right) is very oversized with very dropped shoulders and wide sleeves.
The Tarlee T-Shirt comes with a crew neck (View A), a turtleneck (View B) and an envelope back option (View C). There are short and long-sleeve options and there's even a Patreon Bonus funnelneck option. The Tarlee has a shaped centre-back seam that curves around a curved upper back before curving into the small of the back- great for layering! As with all our knit necklines, we've notched the pattern piece so you can skip the quartering method and get a great neckband every time.
The Hyde T-Shirt has a more open neckline than the Tarlee, and View B features an envelope back that is also an accessibility feature. The straight hemlines make the Hyde perfect for stripes.
The Galen T-Shirt is very oversized with a very dropped shoulder. We recommend a ribbing neckband for the Galen, which is super soft but also the perfect amount of stretch for a beautiful neckband every time. The neckline height is similar to the Hyde- perfect for folks who prefer a neckline that's not very high.
Fabric differences
Our Tarlee and Hyde T-Shirts both call t-shirt weight fabrics with 2-way or 4-way stretch (our close-fitting Tarlee benefits from at least 40% stretch). These 2 patterns are great with spandex blended cotton, bamboo/modal, merino, etc.
For the Galen T-Shirt, we recommend knit fabrics with 2-way stretch or a stable 4-way stretch, which even includes lightweight french terry. We really love the way structured fabrics with limited drape highlight the dramatic shape of this excellently large tee!
Are they that different?
If we were to compare these 3 tees to our shirt patterns, then the Tarlee T-Shirt is to our bust-darted Tarawi Shirt, as the Hyde T-Shirt is to our relaxed fitting Waikerie Shirt, as the Galen T-Shirt is to our very oversized Lobethal Shirt.
There's room in our wardrobes for all 3!
